Peace

Welcome home. It’s been a long time my friend. I think it’s been years since we’ve sat together in the same space, and possibly lifetimes since we’ve had such a pleasant conversation. You’ve been gone a long time. But as it happens in all true friendships, a moment of closeness can rebuild decades of separation.

I’ll pour you some tea in a moment.

I’d heard you were vacationing off in the Caribbean or maybe lying on some beach in Maui for a time. For someone that’s so sought after, your elusive nature still astounds me.

I’ve often fantasized about our paths crossing clandestinely on some seven-day adventure. But my imagination could never go beyond that brief interlude. I just wasn’t built to be a wanderer as you know, and was always told that you’d never live in such an ordinary place. So I accepted that our encounters would be limited, albeit powerful and cherished. I never imagined we’d sit together in my simple home; so comfortably suited for each other.

I’ve missed you.

My nature inclines me to ask what brought you to my doorstep. But you’ve had a long journey and the answers would be meaningless to me right now. You’re here. That’s all that matters.

There is so much to discuss. Yet it seems such a pity to dive into questions about where we’ve each been for so long. The past too seems so insignificant when we’re again reunited. Let me just look at you for a moment. Breathe in the relief of having you in my life again.

And then I’ll bring your tea.

A beautiful, fascinating piece.

It asks more questions than it answers..
