The Architect is on Site

After taking some time to stare at an empty piece of land (See: Learning to Live), the architect has arrived. Why so suddenly? Why so strongly? Why now? Because it's time. A new architect, with a new set of rules. Every time I built this land up before, it was built based on other peoples designs. The plans were all about what "seemed" nice, what "should be" there, or what "everyone else" thought would work. Well... not anymore. The architect is back. New rules...my rules... no rules!

This land will forever be populated with only things that I love. No more will there be things that seem nice, should work, or might fit if I try a bit harder. No more stretching, forcing, or retrofitting things that just don't belong. The design might not make any sense to anyone else. But it doesn't have to. It's my land. My life. If I love it... it belongs! If I don't... it doesn't.

Even as I write this, I think to myself... how hedonistic. How selfish. Possibly even arrogant this must sound. Then I remember one simple thing. I love a lot of beautiful things. I love giving, helping, making a difference, meaning, beauty, G-d, and Torah. So, I needn't worry that this land become a hedonistic jungle of self-indulgence. I simply have to trust my own intuition, and fill it with beautiful things. My judgment is pretty good. Actually, it's pretty great.

So now, the plans are being drawn up. The materials are ordered. The work is about to commence. And I'm so excited to get building!
